Holidaybreak - Campsite Courier Training

Holidaybreak PLC, the company behind the successful Eurocamp and Keycamp brands, offer courier-staffed holidays in chalets and pre-sited tents all over Europe and the USA.

Each year the camping division employs 2,500 couriers from the UK and other countries to staff the campsites for the summer season. The couriers undergo induction training prior to arrival onsite, and in the past this has been conducted at a central location. Holidaybreak have decided to replace this with an on-line program followed up by training on the destination campsite.

Peakdean was selected to develop an on-line induction training program with modules covering: the Company Structure, Health and Safety, Preparing Accommodation, Customer Service and Creating a Good Impression.

Each module consists of a number of short sections covering specific topics. These contain interactive exercises, questions and customer service scenarios. The program includes photographs of couriers in action on site, video clips and specially recorded audio to support the customer service scenarios.

At the end of each module the user attempts a randomised assessment. On successful completion of all five module assessments the user is able to print out a certificate.

Training Initiative of the Year Award

Peakdean are proud to announce that one of our recently completed technical e-learning programs has won the latest Corgi Training Initiative of the Year Award.

'Portable Flue Gas Analysers - A Practical Guide for Users' was produced for Testo Ltd (a world leader in the development and manufacture of high quality measuring instruments) and Parts Center, an operating division of the Wolseley Group.

The award criteria stipulates "that the program demonstrates implementation of an initiative which has had a significant impact upon training in 2008/2009".

The program consists of an interactive e-learning course covering the fundamentals of natural gas combustion and how a flue gas analyser is used to analyse combustion efficiency. A series of specially produced video clips demonstrate the use of an analyser in carrying out a series of standard tests. The training is aimed at qualified gas heating engineers who use the instruments as part of their everyday work.

Stress in the Workplace e-learning

All employers have a legal and moral duty of care when it comes to work-related stress. Furthermore, it is a legal requirement that every employer conducts health and safety risk assessments that include work-related stress.

As part of their response to the issue of combating stress in the workplace, global insurance giant Aviva commissioned Peakdean Interactive to develop a highly interactive, video-rich e-learning package entitled 'Well Being at Aviva' for use by all its employees.

The program, which includes specially produced video clips of actor employees discussing the external and work-related pressures and stresses in their own lives, consists of:

  • a general introduction which explains 'pressure' and 'stress', and how they can affect work performance
  • a guide for all employees which gives practical tips for dealing with pressure and stress, including changing lifestyle and seeking external help
  • a guide for managers which covers:
    • legal and moral responsibilities
    • how to identify the signs of stress in team members
    • the HSE Management Standards
    • how to handle their own pressure and stress.

A self-check quiz completes each main section.
